An Easier Way To Lose Weight

Some time ago in India was an `Easy to Lose Weight Show’ put up by the Eat Right Clinic, at Vengalraonagar. According to Jaanaki, the director of the clinic, “one in almost every family was suffering from obesity or overweight which were predisposing causes to diabetes, increased circulatory fats, hypertension, syndrome X, sleeplessness, fatigue and low immunity.”

The uplifting part of her comments was that a person does not have to sprint forth by rushing to join the queue to the gym. Neither does crash diet has to be the instant solution.  And according to the latest research in nutrition, she advised that “The easiest way would be to change food habits.”

(While she said that changing food habits is the easiest way, I would think it will be easier compared to most of the other lose weight solutions instead of the easiest. Why? I know lots of people who would love to lay their hands on chocolates, cakes and candies, covered with cheese crackers and creamy crème brûlée.)

What was useful from what she said about changing food habits? This means that, unless we choose to, we need not engage in massive, drastic change but rather work on the adjustment to our daily lives. This is, of course, always welcomed as most people do not want a distracted lifestyle… (just to lose weight, that is.)

In the diet show was the famous GM Diet (full name: The General Motors Diet for Weight Loss), the ever-popular Atkin’s Diet and other weight loss diets programs based on the individual and risk profile assessment. Upon reflection, perhaps it’s time we also pay attention to our eating habits besides our living habits.

What Must You Know To Manage Your Job And Career Well?

There are times where people find themselves at the cross road of their career, unsure of what have they been doing and where are they going. It’s truly crucial that you know better ways or methods to work and perform your job. With all the busyness at the workplace, it’s easy to be lost and get embroiled in the increasing workload.

A day before, I was conducting another intensive and reflective run of the popular course “Work-Life Skills for Individual and Organizational Benefits.” Within the sessions, we also discussed where our jobs are going in terms of our intended career and life. The answers are insightful indeed.

Here are some questions that you must know and answer yourself in order to help manage and sort out your job, resulting in better career planning:

1. What are your job scope, duties and responsibilities? (Be as specific as possible.)

2. Which of the listed tasks do you enjoy the most and find greatest fulfillment?

3. What are you doing about the rest of the tasks?

4. How does your job help in your company’s overall vision and direction?

5. How do you spend your time at work?

6. Which tasks require most of your attention and energy to perform?

7. What other resources or tools you need to help you perform your job better?

8. How else can you improve to make your job performance better?

9. How does your job feature in your career plan?

10. Does it help you on the path to what you want to achieve in your career?

11. What are your long term plans in this company? Where do you see yourself in a few years time?

12. Do you discuss with your boss about your job and career?

13. Do you feedback to him regularly regarding ways to improve your work?

14. What are some of the reflections you have regarding your career?

Make use of these questions to provide you with wider perspectives for your own job and career management. Check back with these questions and your answers often.  You will discover that you have gained better control over your directions in working life.

How You Can Get More Pay… Faster And Easier!

It has been a few days since my last posting. This is one of my busiest times of the year for training and public speaking. The speaking engagements and training contracts came in more than usual.

Besides conducting the training and attending the functions to give speeches, I am also fully involved in developing and designing the new courses. There are so many things to share over my last few trainings sessions.

In some of the training, we do discuss about the real issues at the workplace. Some of the participants signed up of their own accord in order to learn much more about managing their career better.
